  • Sierra Mar Speculative Residence

    Hollywood, CA - unbuilt 2008

    with Bertram Architects

The Sierra Mar project was proposed as a high-end speculative residence in the Hollywood hills.  Carved into the hillside of a particularly restrictive site in which the property’s setbacks were used to determine the rough massing of the building, the 7,100 sf residence for a family of four was conceived as a collection of interlocking, open-ended volumes that were configured to provide maximum natural light to an excavated hillside condition.  One enters the building by descending from the roof level, past the adjacent roof-top pool, into the main living level and bedroom levels below.
